Built in 1916, the building has housed a lithography business and a coffee company, and has been used as an office building. Avalon moved into a space vacated by a charter middle school three years ago. Sharing a building with two other schools, Avalon leases the entire 13,407 square foot second floor. The three schools share a cafeteria in the basement of the building, and Avalon uses an additional 4,500 square feet of space in the basement for storage — but plans to utilize part of that space for music practice rooms.
